#1000DiverseBooksForChildren

Khloe Joiner is the founder of #1000DiverseBooksForChildren.  After donating over 15,000 new books to children across the United States, she decided that she wanted to collect 1,000 diverse books for children.  #1000DiverseBooksForChildren was launched in January of 2022.  Khloe was a guest speaker in a Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Town Hall Presentation.  She decided she wanted to collect 1,000 diverse children's books in honor of Dr. King. Khloe's goal is to collect 1,000 books during Black History Month.

As Khloe continues to collect books, she wants to make sure that children have diverse books.  Learning about different cultural aspects offers new experiences for children.  Khloe believes it will help them realize that we are all humans, despite differences in how we look or dress, or what we eat or celebrate.  Children begin to notice differences at about age two, so Khloe's book collection will include books for young children.

Children will learn by reading what it is like to walk in another child's shoes and experience the lives of those unlike them.  Khloe is donating the books to teachers and to children around the world.  She hopes that we will become more respectful towards people with different backgrounds.  Diverse books can act both like mirrors and windows in the world of a child's mind and imagination.

*I collected more than 1,000 diverse books!  Thank you all so very much!
